From Kibale, we drove a couple of hours and after visiting the local Dr for Sue, we arrived at Kasenyi Safari Camp. http://www.kasenyisafaricamp.com/

Here we stayed in tent-like rooms which overlooked a salt lake in the park. It was fairly dark on arrival, but briefing was to become fairly standard - don't worry if you here gun fire - it's likely the staff warning away wildlife. Or, by the way, a few nights ago, there was a group of 7 lions resting under your room! This trip has certainly gotten us very close to wildlife! Food here was a cut above and beautifully plated - unusual for the trip so far.

The next afternoon, after dropping Sue to the airport for her return flight, we did a game drive on our way back to the lodge - luckily our guide, Brighton (like the town in England!) knew just where to spot a leopard snoozing in a tree and 2 lionesses, one in a tree and one on the ground.

A boat trip along the Kazinga Channel was lovely - I always think I can get a shot of birds in flight, but it's incredibly difficult - so not too successful. Kept trying to get a shot of a hippo yawning too - but I always just missed it! We were lucky to see a cute couple of a baby hippo and a baby buffalo- the guide said the 2 species are good pals and live peacefully together.

Next stop was to head further South in the park to the Ishasha area to try and catch the famous tree climbing lions. Of course, Brighton had already scored on this one the day before! We managed to spot 4 beautiful large males and stayed for some time to watch - we were rewarded when they stopped dozing and moved around - I think I got some pretty good shots. My fav though, is the single lion in the tree, he just looked so happy and content in the shade.

Tonights bed was at the Ishasha Jungle Lodge - http://ugandajunglelodges.com/ishasha/ - no need for guards escort here.
